Zinc-plated steel fittings are stronger and more durable than other metal fittings. They have fair corrosion resistance, so they should be used primarily in dry environments. Male NPSM threads are compatible with female NPSH threads. NPSH (National Pipe Straight Hose) female threads are compatible with male NPT, NPTF, and NPSM threads. Metric and UN/UNF (SAE) male threads with gasket protect against leaks.
